Foods high in soluble fiber:

  • Kidney beans
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Apples
  • Pears
  • Barley
  • Prunes
  • Oat bran
  • Oatmeal
  • Peas

How to add more fiber to your diet:

  • Strive for a variety of fruits and veggies every day
  • Have approximately 3 servings of whole grain products daily
  • Eat soups such as lentil, black bean and minestrone
  • Look at nutrition labels – buy grains, cereal, and crackers with at least 3 gm of fiber per serving
  • Eat popcorn
  • Don’t remove skins from fruits and veggies
  • Add vegetables to sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and soups
